The complex
Almyra Apartments is right on the sandy beach at Sfakaki, a seaside village about 10 km outside Rethymno. The beach is a nesting site for the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta), and with some luck you may see one.
The apartments are fully furnished and equipped with air conditioning, a refrigerator, a kitchenette, satellite TV and a private bathroom. You can prepare your own meals and have breakfast on your balcony, looking out over the Aegean Sea and the colourful Mediterranean gardens.
You can spend long hours on the beach, looking out over the Aegean. The apartments have easy access to local supermarkets, bakeries and tavernas.
The Rethymno area has a rich history and plenty to see, including:
- the Venetian castle of Fortezza, one of the best-preserved castles in Crete
- the Kourtaliotiko Canyon
- the sandy beach of Bali, set in wild scenery
- the Ideon Cave, where, according to mythology, Zeus was raised, hidden from his father Cronus
